How To Decorate for Halloween Without Going Overboard

Simple, elegant and affordable ways to decorate for Halloween and for your open houses in Springfield, MO.

As Halloween is here tomorrow you will want to decorate, if you haven't already. The problem comes when your home is being held open the next day. Do you take down the decorations? Here are tips for decorations that you can use that will show your festive side without having to take them down.

Porch Party

Porches are the perfect spot for Halloween decorations. You won't want your porch so spooky that it scares off potential buyers so keep it simple. Start on one corner of your porch and pick a medium to large item as the focus. Some items to help you get started could be a broomstick, pumpkin topiary, a hay bale, fall flowers, or a cauldron,

Ghastly Garden

Putting a festive flag or sign on your property adds that extra curb appeal. On top of that, mums are always the go-to flower for fall. These will help show your festive side as well as "pretty-up" the outside of your home.

(Not So) Spooky Steps

You have to use the steps in order to get into most front doors, so why not decorate them? It is an easy thing to do. Pumpkins always look good on the steps but if you are wanting to add a little more to it, buy some candles and lanterns. This will for sure make you home look good for that open house in Springfield.

Dressed Up Door

Simply putting a wreath on the door makes a big difference. You won't want anything huge that covers the door completely, but just a small, cute wreath is sure to get you comments.

Eerie Entry Table

Decorate your entry table. You can pick colors like orange, black, purple, etc. On top of that, you can add creatures/items like bats, witches, candy corn, or just an overall fall theme. This will be one of the first things guests will see when they enter your home so make sure not to go overboard but still show your creative/festive side.

Fun Fireplace Mantel

Use your fireplace mantel for Halloween displays. You can put mini pumpkins, candles, garland, leaves, or any other little item that you can think of. These are affordable touches that will make a difference.

Just because Halloween is a day before you are having an open house, don't get bummed out about not being able to decorate. This little tips will get you in the festive spirit while still making your home appealing for those coming to tour.
